New ALICE detectors for Run 3 and 4 at the CERN LHC / Trzaska, Wladyslaw Henryk (Jyvaskyla U.) /ALICE
Run 3 at the CERN LHC is scheduled to start in March 2021. In preparation for this new data taking period the ALICE experiment is making major modifications to its subsystems and is introducing three new detectors: the new Inner Tracking System, the Muon Forward Tracker, and the Fast Interaction Trigger. Upgrade of the ALICE Time Projection Chamber / Münzer, Robert (Frankfurt U.) /ALICE
The Time Projection Chamber (TPC) of the ALICE experiment is being upgraded with new readout chambers based on Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) technology during the second long shutdown of the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The upgraded detector will operate continuously and trigger-less without the use of a gating grid. [...]

Production of strange particles in charged jets in Pb–Pb and p–Pb collisions measured with ALICE / Kučera, Vit (Rez, Nucl. Phys. Inst. ; Strasbourg, IPHC) /ALICE Collaboration
Measurements of spectra of identified particles produced in jets in heavy-ion collisions can provide further important insights into the interplay of various hadronisation processes which participate in the particle production in the hot and dense medium. In this contribution, we present the measurements of the p(T) spectra of Λ baryons and K(0)(S) mesons produced in association with charged jets in Pb-Pbcollisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ = 2.76 TeV and in p-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$= 5.02 TeV. FoCal: A highly granular digital calorimeter / van der Kolk, N (Nikhef, Amsterdam) /ALICE FoCal
This contribution discusses the recent progress in the development of a highly granular digital electromagnetic calorimeter proposed as an upgrade to the ALICE detector. This forward electromagnetic calorimeter (FoCal) must be able to discriminate decay photons from direct photons at very high energy, which requires extremely high granularity and a small Molière radius. [...]

Latest ALICE results on coherent $\mathrm J/\psi$ photoproduction in ultra-peripheral Pb$-$Pb collisions at the LHC / Herman, Tomas (Prague, Tech. U.) /ALICE
The high flux of photons from lead ions at the LHC allows us to study photon-induced reactions in ultra-peripheral collisions (UPC) of Pb$-$Pb nuclei in a new kinematic regime. The study of these collisions, where projectiles do not overlap and hence hadronic interactions are suppressed, provides information about the initial state of nuclei. [...]

Investigation of Single Event Latch-up effects in the ALICE SAMPA ASIC / Mahmood, Sohail Musa (Oslo U.) ; Roeed, Ketil (Oslo U.) /ALICE Collaboration
During RUN 3 and RUN 4 at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), the SAMPA chip will be used in the upgraded front end electronics of the ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) Time Projection Chamber (TPC) and Muon Chambers (MCH). Previously, it was reported that the SAMPAV2 prototypes were susceptible to the high energy proton induced Single Event Latch-up (SEL) events. [...]

Measurement of azimuthal correlations of D mesons with charged particles in pp collisions at $\sqrt s =$ 13 TeV with ALICE at the LHC / Naik, Bharati (Indian Inst. Tech., Mumbai)
The ALICE (A Large Ion Collider Experiment) detector at the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) is dedicated to the study of the properties of the hot and dense QCD matter (Quark–Gluon Plasma) produced in the nucleus-nucleus collisions at high energy. Heavy quarks (charm and beauty), having large masses, are produced in the hard-parton scattering in the early stages of the collision. [...]

The High Momentum Particle IDentification (HMPID) detector PID performance and its contribution to the ALICE physics program / Volpe, Giacomo (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) /ALICE
The ALICE apparatus is dedicated to study the properties of strongly interacting matter under extremely high temperature and energy density conditions. For this, enhanced particle identification (PID) capabilities are required. [...]
