 Measurements with the stripping foil test stand in the Linac4 Transfer Line / Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Jorat, Louise (CERN) ; Noulibos, Remy (CERN) ; van Trappen, Pieter (CERN) ; Weterings, Wim (CERN) In 2020, after the CERN accelerators complex Long Shutdown 2 (LS2), a novel Linac4 (L4)-to-PS Booster (PSB) charge-exchange injection system will allow to transform the L4 160 MeV H$^-$ beam into H$^+$, which will be injected into the four PSB superposed rings. For this, a 200 µg/cm$^2$ carbon stripping foil will convert negative hydrogen ions (H$^-$) into protons by stripping off the electrons. Exact Solutions of Indirect Transverse Field Effects in Elongated Structures with Applications to CERN LHC and PS / Hirlander, Simon The understanding of the electromagnetic interaction of the particle beam with the surrounding elements - so-called indirect space charge driven (ISCD) effects - in particle accelerators, is crucial for stable high-intensity performance [...] CERN-THESIS-2020-009 -

 Simulation studies of the beam cooling process in presence of heating effects in the Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) / Resta-López, J (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Hunt, J R (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Karamyshev, O (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Welsch, C P (Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) The Extra Low ENergy Antiproton ring (ELENA) is a small synchrotron equipped with an electron cooler, which is currently being constructed at CERN to further decelerate antiprotons from the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) from 5.3 MeV to energies as low as 100 keV. At such low energies it is very important to carefully take contributions from electron cooling and beam heating mechanisms (e.g. [...] IOP, IOP, 2015 - 24 p. - Published in : JINST 10 (2015) P05012 - Published in : JINST 10 (2015) E08001 Published erratum: PDF;

 A Proposal for an Automatic Longitudinal Tomography Demonstration Project in the Proton Synchrotron Booster / Albright, Simon (CERN) Longitudinal phase space tomography is a vital tool for beam diagnostics in most of the CERN synchrotrons, it is used to reconstruct the longitudinal phase space, and to measure the longitudinal emittance and energy spread. ELENA Commissioning / Gamba, Davide (CERN) ; Carli, Christian (CERN) ; Eriksson, Tommy (CERN) ; Ponce, Laurette (CERN) ; Tranquille, Gerard (CERN) The Extra Low Energy Antiproton storage ring (ELENA) is an upgrade project at the CERN AD (Antiproton Decelerator). ELENA will further decelerate the 5.3 MeV antiprotons coming from the AD down to 100 keV and allow the experiments typically operating traps to increase the capture efficiency. A Magnetic Measurement Model for Real-Time Control of Synchrotrons / Grech, Christian (CERN) ; Buzio, Marco (CERN) ; Sammut, Nicholas (U. Malta) In this paper, we present a measurement model for estimating the magnetic field of a synchrotron-type particle accelerator, based on sensors installed in a reference magnet. The model combines the calibration of the individual sensors with the experimental characterization of the magnets to infer, in absolute terms, the value of the average field in the ring, as needed for the real-time feedback control of the accelerator.
