A new approach to modelling elastic and inelastic photon-initiated production at the LHC: SuperChic 4 / Harland-Lang, L.A. (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Tasevsky, M. (Prague, Inst. Phys.) ; Khoze, V.A. (Durham U., IPPP ; St. Petersburg, INP) ; Ryskin, M.G. (St. Petersburg, INP)
We present the results of the new SuperChic 4 Monte Carlo implementation of photon-initiated production in proton-proton collisions, considering as a first example the case of lepton pair production. This is based on the structure function calculation of the underlying process, and focusses on a complete account of the various contributing channels, including the case where a rapidity gap veto is imposed. A novel monolithic pixelated sensor and readout chip, the compact linear collider tracker detector (CLICTD) chip, is presented. The CLICTD chip was designed targeting the requirements of the silicon tracker development for the experiment at the compact linear collider (CLIC) and has been fabricated in a modified 180 nm CMOS imaging process with charge collection on a high-resistivity p-type epitaxial layer. Triple-GEM discharge probability studies at CHARM: simulations and experimental results / CMS Muon Group Collaboration
The CMS muon system in the region with 2.03<|η|<2.82 is characterized by a very harsh radiation environment which can generate hit rates up to 144 kHz/cm2 and an integrated charge of 8 C/cm2 over ten years of operation. In order to increase the detector performance and acceptance for physics events including muons, a new muon station (ME0) has been proposed for installation in that region. [...]

Study of the Standard Model Higgs Boson in the ATLAS and CMS Experiments at the LHC / Tsukerman, I I (Moscow, ITEP)
Recent results on Higgs boson production and decays in the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the LHC are reviewed. These results are based on data accumulated from 2015 to 2018 in studying proton–proton collisions at the c.m. [...]

Quarkonium production in pp and p-A collisions with ALICE at the LHC / Morreale, Astrid (SUBATECH, Nantes) /ALICE Collaboration
Quarkonia are mesons formed of either a charm and anti-charm quark pair (J/ψ, ψ(2S)) or a beauty and anti-beauty quark pair (ϒ(1S), (2S) and (3S)). We report on forward rapidity (2:5 < y < 4) J/ψ and ψ(2S) production measured in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV, using data collected at the LHC in 2015. [...]

What is your favourite particle and why? / Wiener, J (CERN) ; Woithe, J (CERN)
We have conducted a large-scale international study with high-school teachers (N=530) and high-school students (N=959) from all around the world to investigate and document what they consider as their favourite particles. We found five particles to be highly prominent in both groups, namely the Higgs boson, the neutrino, the electron, the photon and the gluon [...]

Measurement of heavy-flavour production, correlations and jets with ALICE / Sakai, Shingo (Tsukuba U., GSPAS) /ALICE Collaboration
In this article, recent ALICE measurements of the RAA and v2 of electrons at mid-rapidity (|y|<0.6) and muons at forward rapidity (2.5<y<4), from semi-leptonic decays of heavy-flavour hadrons in Pb–Pb collisions at = 5.02 TeV are shown. The results of D-tagged jet production cross-section in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$ =7 TeV are presented. [...]

Photoproduction of axionlike particles in the NA64 experiment / Dusaev, R.R. (Tomsk State U.) ; Kirpichnikov, D.V. (Moscow, INR) ; Kirsanov, M.M. (Moscow, INR)
Axion-like particles $a$ (ALPs) that couple to the Standard Model (SM) gauge fields could be observed in the high-energy photon scattering $\gamma N\to N a$ off nuclei followed by the $a\to \gamma\gamma$ decay. In the present paper we describe the calculation of the ALP production cross-section and the properties of this production. [...]

We report on the results of a radiation campaign with neutrons and protons of Low Gain Avalanche Detectors (LGAD) produced by Hamamatsu (HPK) as prototypes for the High-Granularity Timing Detector (HGTD) in ATLAS. Sensors with an active thickness of 50~$\mu$m were irradiated in steps of roughly 2$\times$ up to a fluence of $3\times10^{15}~\mathrm{n_{eq}cm^{-2}}$. [...]
