Low-mass dielectrons in pp, p–Pb and Pb–Pb collisions measured by the ALICE Experiment / Vorobyev, Ivan (Munich, Tech. U. ; Munich, Tech. U., Universe) /ALICE Collaboration
Dielectrons produced in ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions at the LHC provide a unique probe of the system evolution as they are unperturbed by final-state interactions. The dielectron continuum is extremely rich in physics sources: on top of ordinary Dalitz and resonance decays of pseudoscalar and vector mesons, thermal black-body radiation is of particular interest as it carries information about the temperature of the hot and dense system created in such collisions. Heavy Flavored Jets with CMS / Jung, Kurt (Illinois U., Chicago) /CMS Collaboration
The energy loss of jets in heavy-ion collisions is expected to depend on the mass and flavor of the initiating parton. Thus, measurements of jet quenching with tagged partons place powerful constraints on the thermodynamic and transport properties of the hot and dense medium. [...]

Production of $D^0$ meson in pp and PbPb Collisions at $\sqrt {s_{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV with CMS / Lee, Yen-Jie (MIT) /CMS Collaboration
Heavy flavour mesons are used as powerful tools for the study of the strongly interacting medium in heavy ion collisions as heavy quarks are sensitive to the transport properties of the medium. In these proceedings, $\mathbf{D^{0}}$ nuclear modification factors, comparing the yields in PbPb and pp collisions, and azimuthal anisotropies in PbPb collisions are reported. [...]

Quarkonium production in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_\mathrm{NN}}$ = 5.02 TeV with ALICE / Francisco, Audrey (SUBATECH, Nantes) /ALICE Collaboration
Ultra-relativistic heavy-ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider provide a unique opportunity to study the properties of matter at extreme energy densities where a phase transition from the hadronic matter to a deconfined medium of quarks and gluons, the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP) is predicted. Among the prominent probes of the QGP, heavy quarks play a crucial role since they are created during the initial stages of the collision, before the QGP formation, and their number is conserved throughout the partonic and hadronic phases of the collision [...]

A new approach to modelling elastic and inelastic photon-initiated production at the LHC: SuperChic 4 / Harland-Lang, L.A. (Oxford U., Theor. Phys.) ; Tasevsky, M. (Prague, Inst. Phys.) ; Khoze, V.A. (Durham U., IPPP ; St. Petersburg, INP) ; Ryskin, M.G. (St. Petersburg, INP)
We present the results of the new SuperChic 4 Monte Carlo implementation of photon-initiated production in proton-proton collisions, considering as a first example the case of lepton pair production. This is based on the structure function calculation of the underlying process, and focusses on a complete account of the various contributing channels, including the case where a rapidity gap veto is imposed. A novel monolithic pixelated sensor and readout chip, the compact linear collider tracker detector (CLICTD) chip, is presented. The CLICTD chip was designed targeting the requirements of the silicon tracker development for the experiment at the compact linear collider (CLIC) and has been fabricated in a modified 180 nm CMOS imaging process with charge collection on a high-resistivity p-type epitaxial layer. Triple-GEM discharge probability studies at CHARM: simulations and experimental results / CMS Muon Group Collaboration
The CMS muon system in the region with 2.03<|η|<2.82 is characterized by a very harsh radiation environment which can generate hit rates up to 144 kHz/cm2 and an integrated charge of 8 C/cm2 over ten years of operation. In order to increase the detector performance and acceptance for physics events including muons, a new muon station (ME0) has been proposed for installation in that region. [...]

Quarkonium production in pp and p-A collisions with ALICE at the LHC / Morreale, Astrid (SUBATECH, Nantes) /ALICE Collaboration
Quarkonia are mesons formed of either a charm and anti-charm quark pair (J/ψ, ψ(2S)) or a beauty and anti-beauty quark pair (ϒ(1S), (2S) and (3S)). We report on forward rapidity (2:5 < y < 4) J/ψ and ψ(2S) production measured in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV, using data collected at the LHC in 2015. [...]
