Performance Assessment of Pre-Series Fast Beam Wire Scanner Prototypes for the Upgrade of the CERN LHC Injector Complex
/ Sirvent, Jose (CERN) ; Andersson, Patrik (CERN) ; Andreazza, William (CERN) ; Dehning, Bernd (CERN) ; Emery, Jonathan (CERN) ; Garcia, Lionel (CERN) ; Gudkov, Dmitry (CERN) ; Roncarolo, Federico (CERN) ; Tassan-Viol, Jean (CERN) ; Trad, Georges (CERN) et al.
A new generation of beam wire scanner (BWS), for transversal beam profile monitoring, is under development on the framework of the LHC Injector Upgrade project at CERN. Two pre-series prototypes have been built and installed in the Super Proton Synchrotron and Proton Synchrotron Booster, to assess the performance of the upgraded BWS concept. [...]

The LHC Beam Gas Vertex Detector - a Non-Invasive Profile Monitor for High Energy Machines
/ Vlachos, Sotiris (CERN) ; Alexopoulos, Andreas (CERN) ; Barchel, Colin (CERN ; Cockcroft Inst. Accel. Sci. Tech. ; Liverpool U.) ; Bay, Aurelio (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Blanc, Frederic (Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Bravin, Enrico (CERN) ; Bregliozzi, Giuseppe (CERN) ; Chritin, Nicolas (CERN) ; Dehning, Bernd (CERN) ; Ferro-Luzzi, Massimiliano (CERN) et al.
The Beam Gas Vertex (BGV) monitor is being developed as part of the High Luminosity LHC project with the aim of providing measurements with less than 5% error on the beam size with an integration time of 5 minutes. It will be the only instrument capable of non-invasive beam size measurement throughout the LHC acceleration cycle with high intensity physics beams. [...]

First Beam Tests at the CERN SPS of an Electro-Optic Beam Position Monitor for the HL-LHC
/ Arteche, Alberto (Royal Holloway, U. of London) ; Bashforth, Sophie (JAI, UK) ; Boorman, Gary (Royal Holloway, U. of London ; JAI, UK) ; Bosco, Alessio (Royal Holloway, U. of London ; JAI, UK) ; Chritin, Nicolas (CERN) ; Gibson, Stephen (Royal Holloway, U. of London ; JAI, UK) ; Krupa, Michal (CERN) ; Lefèvre, Thibaut (CERN) ; Levens, Thomas (CERN)
An Electro-Optic Beam Position Monitor is being developed for the HL-LHC, aimed at the detection of high order proton bunch instabilities and as a diagnostic for crabbed bunch rotation. A prototype EO-BPM was installed in the CERN SPS during 2016 and recent first beam tests of the EO pick-up are presented. [...]

The Advanced Proton Driven Plasma Wakefield Acceleration Experiment (AWAKE), based at CERN, explores the use of a proton driven plasma wake-field to accelerate electrons at high energies over short distances. This paper introduces the Beam Position Measurement (BPM) system of the proton beamline and its performance. [...]

Optimization of the Cryogenic Current Comparator (CCC) for Beam Intensity Measurement
/ Sieber, Thomas (Darmstadt, GSI) ; De Gersem, Herbert (Darmstadt, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Fernandes, Miguel (CERN ; Liverpool U.) ; Golm, Jessica (Unlisted, DE) ; Jones, Robert (CERN) ; Kowina, Piotr (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Kurian, Febin (Darmstadt, GSI) ; Marsic, Nicolas (Darmstadt, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Neubert, Ralf (Unlisted, DE) ; Reeg, Hansjörg (Darmstadt, GSI) et al.
Triggered by the need for current measurement in the nA range for slow extracted beams and for the beams in the storage rings at FAIR and CERN, the idea of the CCC as a current transformer has been revitalized during the last ten years. Compared to the first prototype, developed at GSI in the 90s, the second generation of CCCs is based on the possibility of detailed simulation of superconducting magnetic shielding properties, new nano-crystalline materials for the magnetic ring-cores, and on superior commercially available SQUID systems. A resummed method of moments for the relativistic hydrodynamic expansion
/ Tinti, L. (Ohio State U. ; Frankfurt U.) ; Vujanovic, G. (Ohio State U.) ; Noronha, J. (Sao Paulo U.) ; Heinz, U. (Ohio State U. ; CERN ; Darmstadt, EMMI)
The relativistic method of moments is one of the most successful approaches to extract second order viscous hydrodynamics from a kinetic underlying background. The equations can be systematically improved to higher order, and they have already shown a fast convergence to the kinetic results. [...]

Chronology of the three-body dissociation of $^8$He
/ Laurent, B. (Caen U.) ; Marqués, F.M. (Caen U.) ; Angulo, C. (Cathol. U. Louvain (main)) ; Ashwood, N.I. (Birmingham U.) ; Borge, M.J.G. (CSIC, Madrid) ; Bouchat, V. (U. Brussels (main)) ; Catford, W.N. ; Clarke, N.M. (Birmingham U.) ; Curtis, N. (Birmingham U.) ; Freer, M. (Birmingham U.) et al.
The space and time configurations of the dissociation of $^8$He into $^6$He+$n$+$n$, on C and Pb targets, have been explored simultaneously for the first time. The final-state interactions in the $n$-$n$ and $^6$He-$n$ channels are successfully described within a model that considers independent emission of neutrons from a Gaussian volume with a given lifetime.
