OT-$\mu$DTC, a test bench for testing CMS Outer Tracker Phase-2 module prototypes
/ Caratelli, Alessandro (CERN) ; Ceresa, Davide (CERN) ; De Clercq, Jarne Theo (Vrije U., Brussels) ; Galbit, Geoffrey Christian (Lyon, IPN) ; Haranko, Mykyta (CERN) ; Jain, Sandhya (Lyon, IPN) ; Caponetto, Luigi (Lyon, IPN) ; Makarenko, Inna (Brussels U.) ; Mersi, Stefano (CERN) ; Nodari, Benedetta (Lyon, IPN) et al.
The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment plans to replace its strip tracker system with a completely new Outer Tracker system to cope with the higher luminosity, compared to Run 2 operation, provided by the HL-LHC. This CMS Phase-2 Outer Tracker will be build up from two types of modules both consisting out of two parallel silicon sensors separated by a few millimetres. [...]

The Phase-2 Upgrade of the CMS Outer Tracker
/ Roy Chowdhury, Suvankar (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa, Scuola Normale Superiore)
/CMS Collaboration
The Large Hadron Collider\,(LHC), at CERN will undergo major upgrades to be able to deliver peak instantaneous luminosities of about $5-7.5\times 10^{34}~\mathrm{cm}^{-2}\mathrm{s}^{-1}$ by 2027. This High Luminosity upgrade of the LHC (HL-LHC) is expected to deliver a total of about $3000-4000~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ during ten years of operation. [...]

Development of planar pixel sensors for the CMS Inner Tracker at the High-Luminosity LHC
/ Steinbrueck, Georg (Hamburg U.)
/CMS Tracker Group Collaboration
The LHC is planning an upgrade program which will bring the luminosity up to about $7.5\times10^{34}\,$cm$^{-2}$s$^{-1}$ in 2027, with the goal of delivering an integrated luminosity of
3000 or even 4000~fb$^{-1}$ by the end of 2037. This High Luminosity phase, HL-LHC, will present new challenges of higher data rates and unprecedented radiation levels for the pixel detector. [...]

Development of an Optical Readout Hybrid for the CMS Outer Tracker Upgrade
/ Rasevic, Nikola (VINCA Inst. Nucl. Sci., Belgrade) ; Blanchot, Georges (CERN) ; Baron, S ; Kovacs, Mark Istvan (CERN) ; Kulis, S ; Porret, D ; Zografos, Angelos (Natl. Tech. U., Athens)
The pixel-strip modules for the CMS Tracker Phase-2 Upgrade for the HL-LHC integrate a readout hybrid (PS-ROH) for the control and data acquisition link. This hybrid is based on the new, low power and compact gigabit transceiver (LpGBT) and the versatile transceiver VTRx+ specifically designed for the upgrade. [...]

Prototype module construction for the high luminosity upgrade of the CMS pixel detector
/ Ristic, Branislav (Zurich, ETH)
/CMS Collaboration
With the planned upgrades of the LHC towards high luminosity operation, the entire CMS silicon tracker will be replaced in order to cope with the resulting elevated pileup and radiation levels. To fulfill these requirements for the CMS pixel detector, a new readout chip was developed by the RD53 collaboration in 65\,nm CMOS technology, featuring a higher readout bandwidth along with increased granularity and radiation tolerance. MPA-SSA, design and test of a 65 nm ASIC-based system for particle tracking at HL-LHC featuring on-chip particle discrimination
/ Ceresa, Davide (CERN) ; Bergamin, Gianmario (CERN) ; Caratelli, Alessandro (CERN) ; Jan Kaplon ; Kloukinas, Konstantinos (CERN) ; Scarfi', Simone (CERN) ; Yusuf Leblebici
Particle tracking detectors for High Energy Physics need a new readout technique to cope with the increase of the collision rate foreseen for the High Luminosity LHC upgrade. In particular, the selection of interesting physics events at the first trigger stage becomes extremely challenging at high luminosity, not only because of the rate increase, but also because the selection algorithms become inefficient in high pileup conditions.
