Powering of the CMS Phase-2 Upgraded Tracker / Cassese, Antonio (INFN, Florence) /CMS Collaboration
The LHC machine will be upgraded to increase its peak luminosity and targeting an integrated luminosity of $3000 \div 4500\;$fb$^{-1}$ in 10 years. The CMS experiment will be upgraded to meet new challenges such as unprecedented radiation environment, demanding high resilience, and increased number of events per bunch crossing, requiring higher detector granularity. Consequently, both the Outer Tracker (OT) and Inner Tracker (IT) will have to fulfill very stringent requirements also in the power distribution to the front-end electronics: the OT (more than $13000$ independent modules) will use in situ DC/DC converters to parallel distribute $100\,kW$ of power, while the IT will use a serial powering scheme to provide about $50\,kW$ to thousands of modular units..

Measurement of associated Higgs boson production with a top-quark-antiquark pair in the \ensuremath{\text{H}\to \text{b}\overline{\text{b}}}~decay channel at CMS / Wassmer, Michael (KIT, Karlsruhe, EKP) /CMS Collaboration
The measurement of Higgs boson production in association with a top-quark-antiquark pair (\ensuremath{\text{t}\overline{\text{t}}\text{H}}) offers a direct tree-level probe of the coupling of the Higgs boson to top quarks. In the Standard Model, this coupling is expected to be of order unity, and it is therefore of special interest. [...]

The factorization bias in the Van der Meer method: Run 2 experiences at the CMS experiment / Knolle, Joscha (DESY) /CMS Collaboration
The luminosity measurement of the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC is calibrated with Van der Meer (VdM) scans. A bias occurs in the VdM method due to the assumption of transversely factorizable proton densities of the LHC beams. [...]

Commissioning and simulation of CHROMIE, a high-rate test beam telescope / Asenov, Patrick Asenov (Democritos Nucl. Res. Ctr.) /CMS Collaboration
The upgrade of the LHC to the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) is expected to increase the current instantaneous luminosity by a factor of 5 to 7, providing the opportunity to study rare processes and measure precisely the standard model parameters. To cope with the increase in pile-up (up to 200), particle density and radiation, CMS will build new silicon tracking devices with higher granularity (to reduce occupancy) and improved radiation hardness. CMS Inner Tracker Upgrade / Luukka, Panja (Lappeenranta U. Tech.)
The LHC is preparing an upgrade, which will bring the luminosity of the machine to 5-7 $\times$ $10^{34}$~$\mathrm{ cm^{\text{-}2}s^{\text{-}1} }$ reaching an integrated luminosity of 3000 $\mathrm{ fb^{\text{-}1} }$ by the end of 2037. This High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) scenario will require extensive upgrades to the experiments to fully exploit the physics potential of the accelerator. [...]

Bringing heterogeneity to the CMS software framework / Gutsche, Oliver (Fermilab) /CMS Collaboration
The advent of computing resources with co-processors, for example Graphics Processing Units (GPU) or Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), for use cases like the CMS High-Level Trigger (HLT) or data processing at leadership-class supercomputers imposes challenges for the current data processing frameworks. These challenges include developing a model for algorithms to offload their computations on the co-processors as well as keeping the traditional CPU busy doing other work. [...]

Calibration and Performance of the CMS Electromagnetic Calorimeter in LHC Run-II / Kuo, Chia-Ming (Taiwan, Natl. Central U.) /CMS Collaboration
Many physics analyses using the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the LHC require accurate, high resolution electron and photon energy measurements. Excellent energy resolution is crucial for studies of Higgs boson decays with electromagnetic particles in the final state, as well as searches for very high mass resonances decaying to energetic photons or electrons. Precision Timing with LYSO Ce Crystals and SiPM Sensors in the CMS MTD Barrel Timing Layer / Malberti, Martina (INFN, Milan Bicocca) /CMS Collaboration
The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is undergoing an extensive Phase II upgrade program to prepare for the challenging conditions of the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC). In particular, a new timing detector will measure minimum ionizing particles (MIPs) with a time resolution of ~30-40 ps and hermetic coverage up to a pseudo-rapidity of I?I=3. [...]

Studies and validation of a CMS Drift Tube trigger algorithm for HL-LHC / Carrillo Montoya, Camilo Andres (Madrid, CIEMAT) /CMS Collaboration
The electronics of the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) DT (Drift Tubes) chambers will need to be replaced for the HL-LHC (High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider) operation due to the increase of occupancy and trigger rates in the detector, which cannot be sustained by the present system. A new system is being designed that will forward asynchronously the totality of the chamber signals to the control room, at full resolution. [...]
