 Performance of the low-pT tau identification algorithm /CMS Collaboration There is an increasing demand to identify hadronically decaying tau leptons (denoted as $\tau_\text{h}$) below a $p_\text{T}$ of 10 GeV, such as for B-physics analyses and compressed SUSY searches. However, the orthodox $\tau_\text{h}$ identification algorithm is not applicable in the low $p_\text{T}$ regime, because the daughter particles from the $\tau_\text{h}$ decay will be spread over a large $\eta$--$\phi$ region and will not be confined in a single jet anymore from which $\tau_\text{h}$ is reconstructed.  Performance of electron and photon reconstruction in Run 2 with the CMS experiment /CMS Collaboration In this note we present electron and photon performance of the CMS experiment with the inclusive Run 2 data set. We show electron and photon reconstruction and identification results together with timing measurement with the ECAL detector.. CMS-DP-2020-037; CERN-CMS-DP-2020-037.- Geneva : CERN, 2020 - 12 p.  Machine learning technique for signal-background separation of nuclear interaction vertices in the CMS detector /CMS Collaboration The CMS inner tracking system is a fully silicon-based high precision detector. Accurate knowledge of the positions of active and inactive elements is important for simulating the detector, planning detector upgrades, and reconstructing charged particle tracks.  Muon tracking performance in the CMS Run-2 Legacy data using the tag-and-probe technique /CMS Collaboration The muon tracking performance has been measured using the tag and probe technique on di-muon resonances $Z \longrightarrow \mu^{+} \mu^{-}$ for both all tracks'' and tracker-only seeded tracks'' in Run-2 Legacy data at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 59 fb$^{-1}$ (2018), 41 fb$^{-1}$ (2017), 20 fb$^{-1}$ (2016, old APV settings), 16 fb$^{-1}$ (2016, new APV settings)..  Redefinition of Electron and Photon identification variables for Run-3 in the CMS Experiment /CMS Collaboration Run-3 will bring about a harsher environment for electromagnetic object identification, compared to Run-2, leading to a reduction in discrimination power for some of the identification variables. This note summarizes the re-optimization of the variables. As a result, a similar performance and discrimination power as in Run-2 can be retained..  Estimation of tracker material budget with triplet method /CMS Collaboration A novel method for measuring in situ the material budget of a silicon tracker is presented. The method relies on using three consecutive hits, or a triplet, along a reconstructed track, measuring the sagitta in this system and extracting the radiation length locally from the scattering angle.  Track impact parameter resolution in the 2017 dataset with the CMS Phase-1 Pixel detector /CMS Collaboration This note summarizes preliminary results on the measurement of the transverse impact parameter resolution of tracks using legacy data collected in proton-proton collisions in 2017 with the Phase-1 Pixel detector. The measurement is performed in unbiased collision events with respect to the beam-spot position. [...] CMS-DP-2020-032; CERN-CMS-DP-2020-032.- Geneva : CERN, 2020 - 13 p. Fulltext: PDF;

 Performance of missing transverse momentum reconstruction in events containing a photon and jets collected by CMS during proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}$ = 13 TeV in 2018 /CMS Collaboration The performance is presented of the measurement of the missing transverse momentum ($p_{\rm T}^{\rm miss}$) in events containing a photon and jets collected by the CMS experiment in proton--proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13~\rm TeV$ in 2018 (End-Of-Year (EOY) and prompt reconstruction). The dataset studied corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 60 $\mathrm{fb^{-1}}$, with on average 32 simultaneous `pileup' collisions occurring in the same bunch crossing, allowing us to probe events with up to 60 collision vertices. Performance of Same Sign Dimuon Trigger with 2016 pp Collision Data /CMS Collaboration A same-sign double muon trigger was developed and implemented in LHC Run-2 to search for light pseudoscalar boson pairs produced in the decay of the 125 GeV Higgs boson and resulting in final states with four tau leptons. Each pseudoscalar boson is required to decay into a muon and a charged particle which could either be an electron or a muon or a charged hadron from tau decay, with at least two identified muons in the event which are required to have the same charge sign.
