Search for the $^{73}\mathrm{Ga}$ ground-state doublet splitting in the $\beta$ decay of $^{73}\mathrm{Zn}$ / Vedia, V (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys.) ; Paziy, V (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys.) ; Fraile, L M (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys.) ; Mach, H (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys. ; NCBJ, Swierk) ; Walters, W B (Maryland U., Dept. Chem.) ; Aprahamian, A (Notre Dame U.) ; Bernards, C (Cologne U. ; Yale U. (main)) ; Briz, J A (Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia) ; Bucher, B (Notre Dame U. ; LLNL, Livermore) ; Chiara, C J (Maryland U., Dept. Chem. ; Argonne, PHY) et al.
The existence of two close-lying nuclear states in $^{73}$Ga has recently been experimentally determined: a 1/2$^−$ spin-parity for the ground state was measured in a laser spectroscopy experiment, while a J$^{\pi} = 3/2^−$ level was observed in transfer reactions. This scenario is supported by Coulomb excitation studies, which set a limit for the energy splitting of 0.8 keV. [...]

Search for shape-coexisting 0$^+$ states in $^{66}$Ni from lifetime measurements / Olaizola, B (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys.) ; Fraile, L M (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys.) ; Mach, H (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys. ; NCBJ, Warsaw) ; Poves, A (Madrid, Autonoma U.) ; Nowacki, F (Strasbourg, IPHC) ; Aprahamian, A (Notre Dame U.) ; Briz, J A (Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia) ; Cal-González, J (UCM, Madrid, Dept. Phys.) ; Ghiţa, D (Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Köster, U (Laue-Langevin Inst.) et al.
The lifetime of the 0$_3^+$ state in $^{66}$Ni, two neutrons below the $N=40$ subshell gap, has been measured. The transition $B(E2;0_3^+ \rightarrow 2_1^+)$ is one of the most hindered E2 transitions in the Ni isotopic chain and it implies that, unlike $^{68}$Ni, there is a spherical structure at low excitation energy. Laser spectroscopy of neutron-rich tin isotopes: A discontinuity in charge radii across the $N=82$ shell closure / Gorges, C (Darmstadt, Tech. Hochsch.) ; Rodríguez, L V (Orsay, IPN) ; Balabanski, D L (Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Bissell, M L (Manchester U.) ; Blaum, K (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Cheal, B (Liverpool U.) ; Garcia Ruiz, R F (Leuven U. ; CERN ; Manchester U.) ; Georgiev, G (Orsay, IPN) ; Gins, W (Leuven U.) ; Heylen, H (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst. ; CERN) et al.
The change in mean-square nuclear charge radii $\delta \left \langle r^{2} \right \rangle$ along the even-A tin isotopic chain $^{108-134}$Sn has been investigated by means of collinear laser spectroscopy at ISOLDE/CERN using the atomic transitions $5p^2\ ^1S_0 \rightarrow 5p6\ s^1P_1$ and $5p^2\ ^3P_0 \rightarrow 5p6s^3 P_1$. With the determination of the charge radius of $^{134}$Sn and corrected values for some of the neutron-rich isotopes, the evolution of the charge radii across the $N=82$ shell closure is established. Investigation of the $\Delta n = 0$ selection rule in Gamow-Teller transitions: The $\beta$-decay of $^{207}$Hg / Berry, T A (Surrey U.) ; Podolyák, Zs (Surrey U.) ; Carroll, R J (Surrey U.) ; Lică, R (CERN ; Bucharest, IFIN-HH) ; Grawe, H ; Timofeyuk, N K (Surrey U.) ; Alexander, T (Surrey U.) ; Andreyev, A N (York U., England) ; Ansari, S (Cologne U.) ; Borge, M J G (CERN ; Madrid, Inst. Estructura Materia) et al.
Gamow-Teller $\beta$ decay is forbidden if the number of nodes in the radial wave functions of the initial and final states is different. This $\Delta n=0$ requirement plays a major role in the $\beta$ decay of heavy neutron-rich nuclei, affecting the nucleosynthesis through the increased half-lives of nuclei on the astrophysical $r$-process pathway below both $Z=50$ (for $N>82$ ) and $Z=82$ (for $N>126$). Precision nuclear charge radii measurements in the light-mass region are essential for understanding the evolution of nuclear structure, but their measurement represents a great challenge for experimental techniques. At the Collinear Resonance Ionization Spectroscopy (CRIS) setup at ISOLDE-CERN, a laser frequency calibration and monitoring system was installed and commissioned through the hyperfine spectra measurement of $^{38–47}$K. Nuclear charge radii of $^{62−80}$Zn and their dependence on cross-shell proton excitations / Xie, L (Manchester U.) ; Yang, X F (Peking U., SKLNPT ; Leuven U.) ; Wraith, C (Liverpool U.) ; Babcock, C (Liverpool U.) ; Bieroń, J (Jagiellonian U.) ; Billowes, J (Manchester U.) ; Bissell, M L (Manchester U. ; Leuven U.) ; Blaum, K (Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst.) ; Cheal, B (Liverpool U.) ; Filippin, L (U. Brussels (main)) et al.
Nuclear charge radii of $^{62−80}$Zn have been determined using collinear laser spectroscopy of bunched ion beams at CERN-ISOLDE. The subtle variations of observed charge radii, both within one isotope and along the full range of neutron numbers, are found to be well described in terms of the proton excitations across the $Z=28$ shell gap, as predicted by large-scale shell model calculations.
