Hydrogen passivation of cd acceptors in III–V semiconductors studied by PAC spectroscopy / ISOLDE Collaboration
Formation, structure, and stability of hydrogen correlated complexes, created at Cd acceptors in GaP, InP, and InAs have been studied after plasma charging as well as after H+ and/or He+ implantation at different energies. The different complexes were monitored by the perturbed angular correlation technique (PAC). [...]

The use of radioactive molecules for fundamental physics research is a developing interdisciplinary field limited dominantly by their scarce availability. In this work, radioactive molecular ion beams containing actinide nuclei extracted from uranium carbide targets are produced via the Isotope Separation On-Line technique at the CERN-ISOLDE facility. The magnetic properties of MnxGa alloys critically depend on compositionx, andthe atomic-scale origin of those dependences is still not fully disclosed. Molecularbeam epitaxy has been used to produce a set of MnxGa samples (x¼0.7÷1.9)with strong perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, and controllable saturationmagnetization and coercivefield depending onx. Perturbed Angular Correlation Technique at ISOLDE/CERN Applied for Studies of Hydrogenated Titanium Dioxide (TiO2): Observation of Cd-H Pairs / Zyabkin, Dmitry V (Ilmenau Tech. U.) ; Schell, Juliana (CERN ; Duisburg-Essen U.) ; Correia, João G M (CERN ; IST/ITN, Lisbon) ; Vetter, Ulrich (Ilmenau Tech. U.) ; Schaaf, Peter (Ilmenau Tech. U.)
Profound understanding of the local electronic and defect structure in semiconductors always plays a vital role in the further developing of applications of such materials. In the present work an investigation of the electronic structure in hydrogenated TiO2 (rutile) thin films is conducted by virtue of Time-Differential γ-γ Perturbed Angular Correlation spectroscopy (TDPAC or PAC) with 111mCd/Cd isotope, produced and implanted at ISOLDE/CERN. In this work, we report on the hyperfine parameters of the foreign 181Ta probe in the rutile structure of the single crystal TiO2 using the e−γ and γ−γ time differential perturbed angular correlation (TDPAC) technique. We implanted 181Hf ions into a sample of single crystal rutile TiO2 in the Bonn Isotope Separator. [...]

The empirical shell gap revisited in light of recent high precision mass spectrometry data / Manea, Vladimir (IJCLab, Orsay) ; Mougeot, Maxime (CERN ; Heidelberg, Max Planck Inst. ; Jyvaskyla U.) ; Lunney, David (IJCLab, Orsay)
We present an updated view on the phenomenon of mutually enhanced magicity based on the current experimental knowledge of atomic masses, including some recent precision measurements performed with the ISOLTRAP mass spectrometer at ISOLDE/CERN. We discuss the trends of the proton and neutron empirical shell gaps computed either in the standard approach, along chains corresponding to magic numbers of protons and neutrons, respectively, or along the neighbouring isotonic chains differing by two nucleon numbers. Charge and spin state of dilute Fe in NaCl and LiF / ISOLDE Collaboration
There is an apparent mismatch between electron paramagnetic resonance and Mössbauer spectroscopy results on the charge and spin states of dilute Fe impurities in NaCl; Mössbauer spectroscopy data have been interpreted in terms of high-spin Fe$^{2+}$, while electron paramagnetic resonance studies suggest low-spin Fe$^{1+}$. In the present study, the charge and spin states of dilute substitutional Fe impurities in NaCl and LiF have been investigated with $^{57}$Mn → $^{57}$Fe emission Mössbauer spectroscopy. [...]
