Local Primordial Non-Gaussianities and Super-Sample Variance / Castorina, Emanuele (CERN) ; Moradinezhad Dizgah, Azadeh (Geneva U., Dept. Theor. Phys.)
Fluctuations with wavelengths larger than the volume of a galaxy survey affect the measurement of the galaxy power spectrum within the survey itself. In the presence of local Primordial Non- Gaussianities (PNG), in addition to the super-sample matter density and tidal fluctuations, the large-scale gravitational potential also induces a modulation of the observed power spectrum. Beware of commonly used approximations : Part II. Estimating systematic biases in the best-fit parameters / Bernal, José Luis ; Bellomo, Nicola ; Raccanelli, Alvise ; Verde, Licia
Cosmological parameter estimation from forthcoming experiments promise to reach much greater precision than current constraints. As statistical errors shrink, the required control over systematic errors increases. [...]

Correspondence between strings in the Hagedorn phase and asymptotically de Sitter space / Brustein, Ram (Ben Gurion U. of Negev) ; Medved, A.J.M. (Rhodes U. ; NITheP, Matieland)
A correspondence between closed strings in their high-temperature Hagedorn phase and asymptotically de Sitter (dS) space is established. We identify a thermal, conformal field theory (CFT) whose partition function is, on the one hand, equal to the partition function of closed, interacting, fundamental strings in their Hagedorn phase yet is, on the other hand, also equal to the Hartle-Hawking (HH) wavefunction of an asymptotically dS Universe. Supernova Triggers for End-Devonian Extinctions / Fields, Brian D. (Illinois U., Urbana (main) ; Illinois U., Urbana, Astron. Dept. ; Illinois U., Urbana) ; Melott, Adrian L. The Late Devonian was a protracted period of low speciation resulting in biodiversity decline, culminating in extinction events near the Devonian-Carboniferous boundary. Recent evidence indicates that the final extinction event may have coincided with a dramatic drop in stratospheric ozone, possibly due to a global temperature rise. [...]

From Ji to Jaffe-Manohar orbital angular momentum in Lattice QCD using a direct derivative method / Engelhardt, M. (New Mexico State U.) ; Green, J.R. (CERN) ; Hasan, N. (Bergische U., Wuppertal (main)) ; Krieg, S. (Bergische U., Wuppertal (main) ; IAS, Julich) ; Meinel, S. (Arizona U.) ; Negele, J. (MIT, Cambridge, CTP) ; Pochinsky, A. (MIT, Cambridge, CTP) ; Syritsyn, S. (RIKEN BNL ; SUNY, Stony Brook)
A Lattice QCD approach to quark orbital angular momentum in the proton based on generalized transverse momentum-dependent parton distributions (GTMDs) is enhanced methodologically by incorporating a direct derivative technique. This improvement removes a significant numerical bias that had been seen to afflict results of a previous study. [...]

Combining single and double parton scatterings in a parton shower / Cabouat, Baptiste (Manchester U.) ; Gaunt, Jonathan R. (CERN)
Double parton scattering (DPS) processes in which there is a perturbative $1\to2$ splitting in both protons overlap with loop corrections to single parton scattering (SPS). Any fundamental theoretical treatment of DPS needs to address this double-counting issue. [...]

On the new LHCb angular analysis of $B \to K^* \mu^+ \mu^-$: Hadronic effects or New Physics? / Hurth, T. (U. Mainz, PRISMA) ; Mahmoudi, F. (IP2I, Lyon ; CERN ; IUF, Paris) ; Neshatpour, S. (IP2I, Lyon)
The new angular analysis of the decay $B \to K^* \ell^+ \ell^-$ recently presented by the LHCb Collaboration still indicates some tensions with the Standard Model predictions. There are several ongoing analyses to solve the problem of separating hadronic and New Physics effects in this decay, but the significance of the observed tensions in the angular observables in $B \to K^* \mu^+\mu^-$ is still dependent on a theory guesstimate of the hadronic contributions to these decays. Phenomenology of NNLO jet production at the LHC and its impact on parton distributions / Abdul Khalek, Rabah (Vrije U., Amsterdam ; Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; Forte, Stefano (INFN, Milan ; Milan U.) ; Gehrmann, Thomas (Zurich U.) ; Gehrmann-De Ridder, Aude (Zurich U. ; Zurich, ETH) ; Giani, Tommaso (U. (Nikhef, Amsterdam) ; Pires, Joao (CMAF, Lisbon) ; Rojo, Juan (Vrije U., Amsterdam ; Nikhef, Amsterdam) et al.
We present a systematic investigation of jet production at hadron colliders from a phenomenological point of view, with the dual aim of providing a validation of theoretical calculations and guidance to future determinations of parton distributions (PDFs). We account for all available inclusive jet and dijet production measurements from ATLAS and CMS at 7 and 8 TeV by including them in a global PDF determination, and comparing to theoretical predictions at NNLO QCD supplemented by electroweak (EW) corrections. Detecting circular polarisation in the stochastic gravitational-wave background from a first-order cosmological phase transition / Ellis, John (King's Coll. London ; CERN ; NICPB, Tallinn) ; Fairbairn, Malcolm (King's Coll. London) ; Lewicki, Marek (King's Coll. London ; Warsaw U.) ; Vaskonen, Ville (King's Coll. London ; NICPB, Tallinn) ; Wickens, Alastair (King's Coll. London)
We discuss the observability of circular polarisation of the stochastic gravitational-wave background (SGWB) generated by helical turbulence following a first-order cosmological phase transition, using a model that incorporates the effects of both direct and inverse energy cascades. We explore the strength of the gravitational-wave signal and the dependence of its polarisation on the helicity fraction, $\zeta_*$, the strength of the transition, $\alpha$, the bubble size, $R_*$, and the temperature, $T_*$, at which the transition finishes. Stellar Signatures of Inhomogeneous Big Bang Nucleosynthesis / Arbey, Alexandre (IP2I, Lyon ; CERN ; IUF, Paris) ; Auffinger, Jérémy (IP2I, Lyon) ; Silk, Joseph (Paris, Inst. Astrophys. ; Johns Hopkins U. ; Oxford U.)
We evaluate abundance anomalies generated in patches of the universe where the baryon-to-photon ratio was locally enhanced by possibly many orders of magnitude in the range $\eta = 10^{-10} - 10^{-1}$. Our study is motivated by the possible survival of rare dense regions in the early universe, the most extreme of which, above a critical threshold, collapsed to form primordial black holes. [...]
