Comparison of pp and pp ̄ differential elastic cross sections and observation of the exchange of a colorless C-odd gluonic compound / V.M.~Abazov, V.M. (-) ; Abbott, B. (-) ; Acharya, B. S. (-) ; Adams, M. (-) ; Adams, T. (-) ; Agnew, J. P. (-) ; Alexeev, G. D. (-) ; Alkhazov, G. (-) ; Alton, A. (-) ; Antchev, G. (-) et al. We describe a quantitative analysis comparing the p anti-p elastic cross section as measured by the D0 Collaboration at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV to that in pp collisions as measured by the TOTEM Collaboration at 2.76, 7, 8, and 13 TeV using a mainly model-independent approach. The TOTEM cross sections extrapolated to a center-of-mass energy of sqrt(s) = 1.96 TeV are compared with the D0 measurement in the region of the diffractive minimum and the second maximum of the pp cross section. Measurement of single-diffractive dijet production in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 8 TeV with the CMS and TOTEM experiments / CMS and TOTEM Collaborations Measurements are presented of the single-diffractive dijet cross section and the diffractive cross section as a function of the proton fractional momentum loss $\xi$ and the four-momentum transfer squared $t$. Both processes ${\mathrm{p}}{\mathrm{p}} \to {\mathrm{p}}\mathrm{X}$ and ${\mathrm{p}}{\mathrm{p}} \to \mathrm{X}{\mathrm{p}}$, ie with the proton scattering to either side of the interaction point, are measured, where $\mathrm{X}$ includes at least two jets; the results of the two processes are averaged [...] arXiv:2002.12146; CMS-FSQ-12-033; TOTEM-2020-001; CERN-EP-2019-260; CMS-FSQ-12-033-003.- Geneva : CERN, 2020-12-17 - 42 p. - Published in : Eur. Elastic differential cross-section ${\rm d}\sigma/{\rm d}t$ at $\sqrt{s}=$2.76 TeV and implications on the existence of a colourless 3-gluon bound state / TOTEM Collaboration The proton-proton elastic differential cross section dσ /dt has been measured by the TOTEM exper- iment at √s = 2.76 TeV energy with Beta∗ = 11 m beam optics. The Roman Pots were inserted to 13 times the transverse beam size from the beam, which allowed to measure the differential cross- section of elastic scattering in a range of the squared four-momentum transfer (|t|) from 0.36 GeV2 to 0.74 GeV2. Elastic differential cross-section measurement at $\sqrt{s}=13$  TeV by TOTEM / TOTEM Collaboration The TOTEM collaboration has measured the elastic proton-proton differential cross section dσ/dt at √s = 13 TeV LHC energy using dedicated beta∗ = 90 m beam optics. The Roman Pot detectors were inserted to 10σ distance from the LHC beam, which allowed the measurement of the range [0.04 GeV**2;4 GeV**2] in four-momentum transfer squared |t|. Beam-Background Tests with TOTEM Roman Pot Detectors at the LHC Injection Energy / Kašpar, Jan (CERN ; Prague, Inst. Phys.) /TOTEM Collaboration With the aim of measuring the total cross-section and the $\rho$ parameter, TOTEM has performed tests of beam conditions at the LHC injection energy of $\sqrt{s} = 900$ GeV. The tests have revealed complications in setting up the LHC collimators to minimise the background observed in the Roman Pot (RP) detectors, summarised in this article. Observation of proton-tagged, central (semi)exclusive production of high-mass lepton pairs in pp collisions at 13 TeV with the CMS-TOTEM precision proton spectrometer / CMS and TOTEM Collaborations The process pp$\to\ell^+\ell^-$p$^{(*)}$, with $\ell^+\ell^-$ a muon or an electron pair produced at midrapidity with mass larger than 110 GeV, has been observed for the first time at the LHC in pp collisions at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV. One of the two scattered protons is measured in the CMS-TOTEM precision proton spectrometer (CT-PPS), which operated for the first time in 2016. First determination of the ${\rho }$ parameter at ${\sqrt{s} = 13}$ TeV: probing the existence of a colourless C-odd three-gluon compound state / TOTEM Collaboration The TOTEM experiment at the LHC has performed the first measurement at √s = 13 TeV of the ρ parameter, the real to imaginary ratio of the nuclear elastic scattering amplitude at t = 0, obtaining the following results: ρ = 0.09 ± 0.01 and ρ = 0.10 ± 0.01, depending on different physics assumptions and mathematical modelling. The unprecedented precision of the ρ measurement, combined with the TOTEM total cross-section measurements in an energy range larger than 10TeV (from 2.76 to 13TeV), has implied the exclusion of all the models classified and published by COMPETE. Diamond Detectors for the TOTEM Timing Upgrade / TOTEM Collaboration This paper describes the design and the performance of the timing detector developed by the TOTEM Collaboration for the Roman Pots (RPs) to measure the Time-Of-Flight (TOF) of the protons produced in central diffractive interactions at the LHC. The measurement of the TOF of the protons allows the determination of the longitudinal position of the proton interaction vertex and its association with one of the vertices reconstructed by the CMS detectors.
