Open Heavy-Flavour and J/psi production in peripheral PbPb collisions at LHCb
Reference: Poster-2019-1011
Created: 2019. -1 p
Creator(s): Belin, Samuel

In 2018, LHCb recorded ~210 microbarn−1 integrated luminosity of PbPb collisions at sNN−−−−√ = 5.02 TeV. In this talk, we present the first LHCb measurements of open heavy-flavour and J/ψ productions from this new sample. The momentum resolution of the detector allows to probe the boundary of peripheral and ultra-peripheral collisions by comparing hadro-produced and photo-produced J/ψ, but also to measure mesonic and baryonic open-charm productions in peripheral collisions, down to pT=0, where the performance of the detector is optimal.

Exclusive Charmonium production in PbPb and pp collisions at LHCb / Belin, Samuel (U. Cagliari (main) ; INFN, Cagliari) /LHCb
At the LHC, the highly boosted electromagnetic field of the beam particles represents a source of quasi-real photon. Vector meson photo-production measurements in pp/Pb-Pb collisions are sensitive to the gluon parton distribution functions in the proton/nucleus. [...]

Measurement of open-charm hadrons with ALICE / Figueredo, M A S (U. Liverpool (main)) /ALICE
Heavy-flavour hadrons constitute a very good probe of the hot and dense medium created in high-energy Pb-Pb collisions. ALICE results on open-charm hadron production in Pb-Pb and p-Pb collisions are presented. [...]

Open heavy-flavour measurements in p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions with ALICE at the LHC / Terrevoli, Cristina (INFN, Padua ; Padua U.) /ALICE
Heavy flavours are sensitive probes of the hot and dense QCD medium formed in high-energy heavy-ion collisions. Measurements of their production in p-Pb collisions are crucial for the interpretation of heavy-ion results, by investigating the cold nuclear matter effects. [...]

Hard probes with p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions and fixed target results at LHCb / Fleuret, F (Ecole Polytechnique) /LHCb Collaboration
Since 2013, the LHCb collaboration extended its physics programme to the studyof ion collisions. Thanks to the unique tracking and PID capabilities of thedetector in the forward rapidity region, LHCb can provide important results onheavy flavour production in proton-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions at LHC. Results from proton-lead and fixed-target collisions at LHCb / García, Oscar Boente (Santiago de Compostela U.) /LHCb Collaboration
The latest results from the LHCb experiment in heavy-ion collisions are reported. A variety of different collision systems is covered: proton-lead ($p$-Pb) collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.02,\,8\,\mathrm{TeV}$; lead-lead (Pb-Pb) collisions at $\sqrt{s_{\mathrm{NN}}}=5.02\,\mathrm{TeV}$ and proton-gas collisions in fixed-target configuration. Heavy-flavour production in ALICE / Sakai, Shingo (LNF, Dafne Light) /ALICE
We present measurements of heavy-flavour production in Pb-Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}}$=2.76 TeV and in p-Pb collisions at 5.02 TeV by the ALICE Collaboration. A strong suppression of heavy-flavour production at high p_T is observed in central Pb-Pb collisions, while non-zero elliptic flow is seen at low p_T in semi-central collisions. [...]

Heavy Flavours in ALICE / Pachmayer, Y. (Heidelberg U.) /for the ALICE collaboration
The measurement of heavy-flavour production allows us to characterise the properties of the deconfined medium created in Pb-Pb collisions at LHC energies. pp collisions serve as a reference for Pb-Pb studies, and p-Pb collisions provide information on initial and/or final state effects related to cold nuclear matter. Open heavy-flavour and quarkonium measurements with ALICE at the LHC / Bastid, Nicole (U. Blaise Pascal, Clermont-Ferrand) /ALICE
The ALICE Collaboration at the LHC measured open heavy flavours and quarkonia over a wide rapidity and transverse momentum range, and in several decay channels in pp, p-Pb and Pb-Pb collisions. An overview of recent results in p-Pb collisions at = 5.02 TeV and Pb-Pb collisions at = 2.76 TeV is presented. [...]
