Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPCs) are often used as time-of-flight (TOF) detectors for high-energy physics and nuclear experiments thanks to their excellent time accuracy. For the Compressed Baryonic Matter (CBM) TOF system, MRPCs are required to work at particle fluxes on the order of 1–10 kHz/cm$^2$ for the outer region and 10–25 kHz/cm$^2$ for the central region. Implementation of CERN secondary beam lines T9 and T10 in BDSIM / D'Alessandro, Gian Luigi (CERN ; JAI, UK) ; Bernhard, Johannes (CERN) ; Boogert, Stewart (JAI, UK) ; Gerbershagen, Alexander (CERN) ; Gibson, Stephen (JAI, UK) ; Nevay, Laurence (JAI, UK) ; Rosenthal, Marcel (CERN) ; Shields, William (JAI, UK)
CERN has a unique set of secondary beam lines, which deliver particle beams extracted from the PS and SPS accelerators after their interaction with a target, reaching energies up to 400 GeV. These beam lines provide a crucial contribution for test beam facilities and host several fixed target experiments. [...]

Effective longitudinal segmentation of shashlik calorimeters can be achieved taking advantage of the compactness and reliability of silicon photomultipliers. These photosensors can be embedded in the bulk of the calorimeter and are employed to design very compact shashlik modules that sample electromagnetic and hadronic showers every few radiation lengths. Baby MIND: A magnetised spectrometer for the WAGASCI experiment / Hallsjö, Sven-Patrik (Glasgow U.) /Baby MIND
The WAGASCI experiment being built at the J-PARC neutrino beam line will measure the ratio of cross sections from neutrinos interacting with a water and scintillator targets, in order to constrain neutrino cross sections, essential for the T2K neutrino oscillation measurements. A prototype Magnetised Iron Neutrino Detector (MIND), called Baby MIND, has been constructed at CERN and will act as a magnetic spectrometer behind the main WAGASCI target. [...]

Novel Design features of the Baby MIND Detector for T59-WAGASCI experiment / Parsa, Saba (U. Geneva (main)) /Baby MIND
Baby MIND is a magnetized iron neutrino detector, planned to serve as a downstream magnetized muon spectrometer for the WAGASCI experiment, on the T2K neutrino beam line in Japan. Access restrictions in its intended location in Japan drove a completely new design of the magnetic modules, a departure from the traditional toroidal magnetized iron detectors such as CDHS and MINOS. ENUBET: High Precision Neutrino Flux Measurements in Conventional Neutrino Beams / Pupilli, Fabio (INFN, Padua) ; Ballerini, G (Insubria U., Como ; INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Berra, A (Insubria U., Como ; INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Boanta, R (INFN, Milan Bicocca ; Milan Bicocca U.) ; Bonesini, M (INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Brizzolari, C (Insubria U., Como ; INFN, Milan Bicocca) ; Brunetti, G (INFN, Padua) ; Calviani, M (CERN) ; Carturan, S (INFN, Legnaro) ; Catanesi, M G (INFN, Bari) et al.
The ENUBET project aims at demonstrating that the systematics in neutrino fluxes from conventional beams can be reduced to 1% by monitoring positrons from K$_{e3}$ decays in an instrumented decay tunnel, thus allowing a precise measurement of the $\nu_e$ (and $\overline{\nu}_e$) cross section. This contribution will report the results achieved in the first year of activities. [...]

The TCO-Asa is a 2015 established team of high-school students of the Liceo Scientifico T. Calzecchi Onesti, in Fermo (Italy), who built a detector instrumented by consumer components including a CMOS camera and a silicon photomultiplier readout by the open-source ArduSiPM kit, to study the Cherenkov effect in water. This proceeding presents the main activities of the students that included the definition of the geometry of the detector, the realisation of the structure prepared by Scanny3D, the optimisation of the coupling between the water and the sensors, the experiences with 18F (prepared by Acom SRL) and 226Rd radioactive sources, and the results of the tests performed at the Beam Test Facility in INFN-Frascati in 2016.The team proposed to expose the detector to a test beam at CERN in 2016 and in 2017 within the Beamline for School initiative. Application of SiPM arrays for the readout of a scintillator based time-of-flight detector / Korzenev, Alexander (Geneva U.) ; Betancourt, C (Zurich U.) ; Blondel, A (Geneva U.) ; Brundler, R (Zurich U.) ; Dätwyler, A (Zurich U.) ; Favre, Y (Geneva U.) ; Gascon, D (ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Gomez, S (ICC, Barcelona U.) ; Mermod, P (Geneva U.) ; Noah, E (Geneva U.) et al.
A feasibility study of replacing a conventional phototube with an array of SiPMs is presented. High gain, low voltage operation and insensitivity to the magnetic field make SiPMs practically useful for the light collection in a physics experiment. [...]
