Medical Applications of the GEMPix / Leidner, Johannes (CERN) ; Murtas, Fabrizio (CERN ; LNF, Dafne Light) ; Silari, Marco (CERN)
The GEMPix is a small gaseous detector with a highly pixelated readout, consisting of a drift region, three Gas Electron Multipliers (GEMs) for signal amplification, and four Timepix ASICs with 55 µm pixel pitch and a total of 262,144 pixels. A continuous flow of a gas mixture such as Ar:CO2:CF4, Ar:CO2 or propane-based tissue equivalent gas is supplied externally at a rate of 5 L/h. [...]

Measurement of $e^+e^-$ Momentum and Angular Distributions from Linearly Polarized Photon Collisions / STAR Collaboration
The Breit-Wheeler process which produces matter and antimatter from photon collisions is experimentally investigated through the observation of 6085 exclusive electron-positron pairs in ultraperipheral  Au + Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{NN}} = 200$ GeV. The measurements reveal a large fourth-order angular modulation of  cos 4 Δ ϕ = ( 16.8 ± 2.5 ) %  and smooth invariant mass distribution absent of vector mesons ( ϕ ,  ω , and  ρ ) at the experimental limit of  ≤ 0.2 %  of the observed yields. Toward Machine Learning Optimization of Experimental Design / MODE Collaboration
The design of instruments that rely on the interaction of radiation with matter for their operation is a quite complex task if our goal is to achieve near optimality on some well-defined utility fu....

$\gamma$ production in neutrino interactions with nuclei / Chanfray, G (IP2I, Lyon) ; Ericson, M (IP2I, Lyon ; CERN)
We evaluate the cross section for gamma production by neutrinos through a meson exchange effect which derives from the concept of axial-vector mixing. The resulting cross section leads to some increase of the gamma production cross section by neutrinos, especially at low neutrino energies, which may influence the understanding of the low-energy excess of electron-like events seen in the MiniBooNE experiment..

Track reconstruction of particle interactions in long crystals with large bending / Rossi, R (CERN) ; Esposito, L S (CERN) ; Garattini, M (CERN ; Imperial Coll., London) ; James, T O (Imperial Coll., London) ; Pesaresi, M (Imperial Coll., London) ; Hall, G (Imperial Coll., London) ; Scandale, W (CERN ; Imperial Coll., London)
The possibility to deflect hadron beams precisely through angles of multi-mrad is important for several future applications, and magnets are not suitable for this purpose. Crystal channeling provides a means to do this, but is not well studied for such deflections. [...]

A methodology for the analysis of the three-dimensional mechanical behavior of a Nb$_3$Sn superconducting accelerator magnet during a quench / Ferradas Troitino, J (CERN ; Geneva U.) ; Bajas, H (CERN) ; Bianchi, L (CERN) ; Castaldo, B (CERN) ; Ferracin, P (LBNL, Berkeley) ; Guinchard, M (CERN) ; Izquierdo, S (CERN) ; Lorenzo, J V (Barcelona Supercomputing Ctr.) ; Mangiarotti, F (CERN) ; Perez, J C (CERN) et al.
The fast thermal and electromagnetic transients that occur in a superconducting magnet in case of a quench have the potential of generating large mechanical stresses both in the superconducting coils and in the magnet structure. While the investigation of such quench loads should generally be conducted to ensure a safe operation of the system, its importance is greatly enlarged in the case of high-field magnets based on strain sensitive superconductors. Neutrino beam-dump experiment with FASER at the LHC / Jodłowski, Krzysztof (NCBJ, Warsaw) ; Trojanowski, Sebastian (NCBJ, Warsaw ; Warsaw, Copernicus Astron. Ctr. ; Sheffield U.)
The neutrino physics program at the LHC, which will soon be initiated by the FASER experiment, will provide unique opportunities for precision studies of neutrino interaction vertices at high energies. This will also open up the possibility to search for beyond the standard model (BSM) particles produced in such interactions in the specific high-energy neutrino beam-dump experiment. [...]

Neutrino oscillation physics has entered a new precision era, which poses major challenges to the level of control and diagnostics of the neutrino beams. In this paper, we review the design of high-precision beams, their current limitations, and the latest techniques envisaged to overcome such limits. [...]

Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors as Innovative Monitoring Tool for Beam Induced RF Heating on LHC Beam Pipe / Fienga, Francesco (Naples U. ; INFN, Italy ; CERN) ; Marrazzo, Vincenzo Romano (Naples U.) ; Spedding, Sara Bennett (Naples U.) ; Szillasi, Zoltan (Debrecen, Inst. Nucl. Res. ; CERN) ; Beni, Noemi (Debrecen, Inst. Nucl. The i-pipe system is a peculiar structural health monitoring system, based on Fiber Bragg Grating technology, installed on the central beam pipe of the compact Muon solenoid (CMS) experiment at CERN. In this contribution, i-pipe temperature sensors, originally conceived as thermal compensator for the strain sensors, are employed to monitor central beam pipe thermal behavior in correlation with the parameters of the particle beam travelling inside, in order to directly measure possible Beam RF induced heating effect.
