Machine Learning Techniques for JetMET Data Certification of the CMS Detector
/CMS Collaboration
In CMS, data quality monitoring (DQM) and data certification (DC) are crucial components in ensuring reliable data quality suitable for physics analysis. In the offline DQM procedure, the quality of recorded data, grouped in "runs", is evaluated. [...]

CMS Silicon Strip Tracker Performance Results in 2022
/CMS Collaboration
After more than three years of maintenance, consolidation and upgrade, the Large Hadron
Collider (LHC) resumed its high energy proton-proton collisions on the 5th of July 2022, with
a record breaking center of mass energy of 13.6\,TeV. The year 2022 marked the beginning
of a planned four year data taking period called Run 3. [...]

Performance of Level-1 EGamma Trigger On 2022 pp Collisions at 13.6 TeV
/CMS Collaboration
This note presents a measurement, in the first data collected by CMS in 2022 at 13.6 TeV, of the performances of the Level 1 Trigger (L1T) system of CMS to identify and select electrons and photons. The corresponding L1T objects are reconstructed using the information provided by the electromagnetic and hadronic calorimeters and are referred to as the "L1 EG" objects. [...]

Performance of Track Reconstruction at the CMS High-Level Trigger in 2022 data
/CMS Collaboration
In Run 3, track reconstruction at the CMS High-Level Trigger is based on a single iteration seeded by pixel tracks reconstructed by the Patatrack algorithm. This note presents the track reconstruction performance measured in data recorded at a center-of-mass energy of $ \sqrt{s} = $ 13.6 TeV in 2022..

Using a Neural Network to Approximate the Negative Log Likelihood Function
An increasingly frequent challenge faced in HEP data analysis is to characterize the agreement between a prediction that depends on a dozen or more model parameters-such as predictions coming from an effective field theory (EFT) framework-and the observed data. Traditionally, such characterizations take the form of a negative log likelihood (NLL) distribution, which can only be evaluated numerically. [...]

Jet Reconstruction with the Seeded Cone algorithm in the CMS Phase-2 Level-1 Trigger
/CMS Collaboration
The Phase-2 upgrade of the CMS detector for the High Luminosity upgrade of the LHC (HL-LHC) [CMS-TDR-021] includes the introduction of many new capabilities into the Level-1 trigger, including tracking and the new high-granularity calorimeter. The combination of the precise information coming from the muon, calorimeter and tracking system will allow particle candidates to be reconstructed with the Particle Flow algorithm. [...]

First Data Taken with the Level-1 Data Scouting System
/CMS Collaboration
The Level-1 40 MHz data scouting system will record trigger objects created by the Phase-2 Level-1 trigger at the bunch crossing rate, enabling novel analyses and improving monitoring capabilities.
At the end of 2018 and from the beginning of LHC Run-3 a demonstrator system has been in operation, taking data initially from the CMS Phase-1 Global Muon Trigger and recently, from mid-2021, also from the CMS Phase-1 Calorimeter Trigger. First data obtained this novel system are shown here. [...]

40MHz Scouting Muon Studies
/CMS Collaboration
The 40MHz Scouting system is a novel data acquisition system, parallel to the Level-1 trigger, that collects the Level-1 trigger primitives at the full bunch crossing rate.
It was first demonstrated in 2018 at the end of Run 2 and the system has been updated
for Run 3. The Run 3 demonstrator captures data from multiple sources: the outputs of the Global Muon Trigger (GMT), data from Calorimeter Layer 2 and the Global Trigger (GT) and the inputs of the Barrel Muon Track Finder (BMTF)..
