 First Tracker Alignment results with 2021 cosmic ray data /CMS Collaboration During the LHC Long Shutdown 2 (2018-2021) the CMS Barrel Pixel detector was disassembled and its innermost layer was fully replaced. In this report, performance plots of the first pixel-detector alignment results are presented, which were obtained with cosmic ray data taken prior to the re-start of the Run 3 LHC pp operations.  The Pixel Luminosity Telescope: A detector for luminosity measurements at CMS using silicon pixel sensors /CMS Collaboration The Pixel Luminosity Telescope is a silicon pixel detector dedicated to luminosity measurement at the CMS experiment. It consists of 48 silicon sensor planes arranged into 16 "telescopes" of three planes each, with eight telescopes arranged around the beam pipe at either end of the CMS detector, outside the pixel endcap at a distance of approximately 1.75 m from the interaction point.  Analytical Method (AM) for DT Trigger Primitive Generation in Phase-2 /CMS Collaboration A full replacement of the muon trigger system in the CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) detector is envisaged for operating at the maximum instantaneous luminosities expected in HL-LHC (High Luminosity Large Hadron Collider) of about 5-7.5$\times10^{34}$ cm${}^{-2}$s${}^{-1}$. Under this scenario, the new on detector electronics that is being designed for the DT (Drift Tubes) detector will forward all the chamber information at its maximum time resolution.  Mass regression of highly-boosted jets using graph neural networks /CMS Collaboration In this note a novel technique is presented, based on machine learning (ML), to reconstruct the mass of hadronically decaying highly Lorentz-boosted heavy particles with the CMS Phase 1 detector. The technique, commonly known as mass regression, is based on ParticleNet [1-3], a graph neural network using an unordered set of jet constituent particles as the input.  Validation of Physics Models of Geant4 10.7 using data from CMS Experiment /CMS Collaboration In the simulation of the CMS experiment, a specific Geant4 physics configuration (Physics List), tuned with dedicated test beam experiments, is used. Test beam data provide measurements of energy response of the calorimeter as well as resolution for well identified charged hadrons over a large energy region.  FLUKA Run 2 simulation benchmark with beam loss monitors in the CMS forward region /CMS Collaboration The FLUKA simulation framework is a general purpose Monte Carlo software for nuclear physics applications. It is commonly used by the CMS collaboration to make estimates on radiation levels in the underground cavern and at specific detector locations.  The Phase-1 Pixel Detector Performance in 2018 /CMS Collaboration The upgraded CMS pixel detector was installed in the extended year-end technical stop of the LHC in 2016/2017. It consists of 124 million pixels arranged in four layers in the barrel region and three end-cap disks on each side of the barrel.  GEM Cosmic Ray Muons in 2020 /CMS Collaboration The CMS muon system plays an important role in the discovery of new physics like the Higgs boson and new particles. The next phase of the LHC is planned to increase luminosity to improve the discovery power. [...] CMS-DP-2021-006; CERN-CMS-DP-2021-006.- Geneva : CERN, 2021 - 11 p. Fulltext: PDF;

 PF Jet Performances at High Level Trigger using Patatrack pixel tracks /CMS Collaboration As the start of the LHC Run III approaches, there are substantial efforts towards accelerating the Particle Flow (PF) reconstruction at the High Trigger-Level (HLT) to allow new physics searches to probe unexplored regions of parameter space at lower masses and weaker couplings. Since Run II, the quality of pixel track reconstruction has been greatly improved, which in turn allows us to consider using these optimized pixel tracks, called Patatrack'' pixel tracks, as inputs to the PF reconstruction algorithm at HLT, leading to significant decrease of processing time. B-tagging performance of the CMS Legacy dataset 2018. /CMS Collaboration Identification of heavy flavour jets, i.e.\,jets containing b or c hadrons, is an essential ingredient of many measurements as well as searches for new physics beyond the standard model at the LHC. In this Detector Performance Summary, the performance of these algorithms is presented for anti-kT jets with radius parameter 0.4 based on Legacy reconstruction of proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at 13 TeV in 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 60 fb$^{-1}$ and compared with expectations based on simulation.
